Royalty

The best way to move out of menial bureaucratic [read: office] work is to marry into royalty. Of course it helps when the daughter loves the man more than the he loves the position it grants.

--Or something like that, at least. He was somewhere in the courts and she was one of many daughters of the king/emperor. He wanted her to spite someone else; he wanted the throne just to spite this other person. It helped that she wanted him back and was willing to do what she could to elevate him in the eyes of her father.
__But that wasn’t necessary, he could kill the emperor at any time and take over. Well, not him, he would never get blood on his own hands, which is why he never fought in the king’s guard, but it would be easy enough to get someone else to do it.
__She eventually died of the plague and he was killed for, well, a lot of reasons: heretical actions, incessant wars and bloodshed, angered the gods, killed the entire royal family, pillaging and plundering, you name it, he probably did it.
And then he sold whatever was left of his soul, and has been wandering ever since.

Her name is Ninsuna and I'm not really sure what his name was.
And this is just a ceremonial sort of outfit. Everyday wear would of course, be less heavy, and probably a bit more blood-stained. *shrug*

And this is what I spent my entire Thanksgiving break working on. Well, the coloring at least. The gold took me the longest, ugh.. just ugh.

Many many refs used (from the fur to the gold, to the dangly turquoise and ruby/garnet things, and the headdresses, and yeahh..)

I'm not too adverse to some C&C, but I know there's a good deal wrong with this already (legs, arms, torso, overall stiffness, and that darned gold )
